Easy Origami Hearts - 3 Different Ways
/Learn how to make one of these simple origami hearts in time for Valentine’s Day. Hang them as a garland, pop them in a card, use them as a bookmark or tie them to a gift. They’re the perfect handmade decorations for Valentine's Day.
Origami Valentines.
Today I've got a great Valentine's Day Origami craft project for you, origami hearts three different ways. A simple purple origami heart, a flying origami heart with wings and a cute origami heart corner bookmark. The last one is perfect for any bookworms in your life.
All three of these origami hearts are simple to make and great practice if you’re new to origami. The first one needs only a few basic folds and takes less than a minute so it’s perfect if you’re looking for a last-minute gift for a special someone. Open up the flaps and jot down your message before closing it back up again. You could even pop a small note inside and hide it behind the flaps.
To make them you’ll need some paper squares and a little patience. You don’t need any fancy origami paper although I do have a soft spot for the pretty patterns. Any paper will do. Regular A4 paper, pages from a colouring book, one of the kid’s drawings or gift wrap are all great alternatives.

Origami Paper - This 500 sheet pack is great for beginners. For beautiful patterns, this 120 sheet pack containing traditional patterns, florals and animals is hard to beat. For double-sided paper with contrasting colours, I really like this set from Folded Square. They have a fantastic range of colours.

Although I don't think any of them are particularly hard the last one is a little tricky so I've put them in the order of difficulty. I think the purple origami heart is the perfect place to start if you're a beginner.

3. Origami Heart with Wings.
Don’t let this tricky looking paper heart fool you, it’s easier to make than it looks. At first glance, you might think it’s made using a separate piece of paper for the wings and heart but it’s actually made using a single sheet of double-sided paper.
As you fold your heart the underside of the paper is revealed to form the wings. I used red and yellow for mine but pink and red would look fantastic too, don’t you think?
Time to impress your loved ones, friends and family and get folding. You can find the full origami heart with wings tutorial here.
How cute are they? I think my favourite is the origami heart with wings. I could've made a whole bunch of those. It's the combination of the yellow and red that make it.
Give it a go, make that special someone a beautiful Valentine’s Day origami heart and show them you care.
