Easter Treat Boxes.

As you know I love to make gift boxes from scratch but this time I wanted to do something a little more creative for the holidays. As Easter is just around the corner I thought I’d share a fun little craft with you – DIY Carrot Treat Boxes!

You can make these bright orange paper carrots with just a few simple supplies and they couldn’t be easier to make. Not only do they make fantastic handmade gifts but they also look lovely as Easter table decorations or as party favours.

If you’re planning to have people over for Easter lunch why not fill with treats, stickers or small toys for the kids and put one next to everybody’s plate. All your guests need to do is tear them open to reveal their gift. The ideal handmade Easter treat.

Carrot Box Favours.

Do you do Easter baskets in your house? If so I think this paper carrot box is the perfect addition to a kid’s (or let’s face it an adult’s as well) Easter basket. They’d also make a fantastic alternative to the classic egg in an Easter egg hunt.

To make the carrot shape you’re going to make a long sour cream container style package. As they’re so quick and simple to make you can make up a few boxes in no time at all.

Pop them in a flower pot with some fake grass for a sweet centrepiece or stamp a name on each one and use it as a table setting. Or simply fill them with some yummy treats and use them as cute little place setting for Easter lunch.

How to make Easter Carrot Treat Boxes.

1. Cut a 6-inch square piece of orange paper or card.

2. Place double-sided tape along 2 of the sides to make an ‘L’ shape.

Try to get it as close to the edges as possible.

3. Peel the backing of one of the strips of tape.

4. Roll and stick the paper into a tube.

Top tip:

When making your tube you don’t want the seam to line up with the side of your finished carrot as sometimes the edge of the paper can peel away at the crease and look messy.

Make sure the seam of the tube is in the middle to stop this from happening.

5. Peel the backing of the strip at the end of your tube.

6. Line up the bottom of your tube and carefully press the end together to seal shut.

7. Turn your paper tube around and fill the open end with mini eggs, candy or other treats.

8. Next, cut a strip of green paper.

I made mine 6 x 3 inches and made 3 carrot tops out of it.

9. Use a pair of fringe scissors to cut along the strip of green paper to make the carrot top.

Make sure NOT to cut all the way to the bottom otherwise, your paper fringe will fall apart.

10. Attach the carrot top to the inside of your pouch using some double-sided tape.

10. Pinch the pouch together this time in the opposite direction to make the sour cream container shape.

11. Press and seal the top of your pouch closed with some more tape.

Once you’ve finished creating your basic carrot-shaped container you can embellish it further with some stickers, a ribbon and a gift tag or leave as they are.

And that’s all there is to it. From start to finish it took me less than 5 minutes to make each carrot. Perfect if you’re looking for a last-minute Easter gift.
