Dinosaur Footprint Fossil Cookies.
These dinosaur footprint cookies could not be simpler to make. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly activity to keep the little ones occupied I can wholeheartedly recommend them.
I don’t normally post kids’ crafts or activities but we had so much fun making these biscuits I couldn’t resist. Now that we’re spending a lot more time at home I’m always on the lookout for fun things to keep my three-year-old entertained and these biscuits kept him busy for at least half an hour.
He loved stomping his favourite dinosaurs around in the dough so if you’ve got a dinosaur lover in your house I think you’ll be onto a winner with these.
To make these dinosaur fossil footprints I used my foolproof sugar cookie dough recipe. It never fails. It makes a nice soft dough that is perfect for making footprint shapes holes.
You could use a premade cookie dough but I recommend using a sugar cookie dough if you can. The great thing about sugar cookie dough is that it doesn’t spread as it bakes. It holds its shape and doesn’t lose any details making it the ideal choice to cut into shapes or press pretty vintage glasses into.
This recipe makes a medium-soft cookie but you can make them thinner or bake them longer if you prefer a crisper cookie. They only take 8-10 minutes to bake so just be careful not to burn them.

How to make dinosaur footprint cookies.
Roll your dough out (about 1/2 inch thick) onto a lightly floured work surface
Cut out small circles. I used a small round cookie cutter and made 24 cookies. Depending on how big you want to make them you could use a glass or jar to make your circles.
Press (or stomp) the dinosaur into each cookie to form a footprint (make sure to clean your dinosaurs in soapy water first).
Once your cookie has been stomped transfer to a greased baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
These fossil footprint cookies are such a fun take on the standard sugar cookie and were so much fun to make. They’re a great way of combining baking and playtime.
We’re big fans of dinosaurs here but if you haven’t got any dinosaur crazy kids at home you could use other animal toys, insects or shells to make your own version of these fossil cookies.
They’re perfect for birthday parties or an afternoon treat with a glass of milk.
