What Are Halloween Mad Libs?
If you’ve never played Mad Libs before, you’re in for a treat (no tricks, I promise!). These are super fun, fill-in-the-blank stories where you and your friends or family add in silly words to create fun stories.
But here’s the catch: you have no idea what the story is about until you fill in all the blanks!
One player asks the other players to fill in the blank with a random word (think adjectives, nouns, and verbs), but without knowing the full story.
Now, imagine that but with a Halloween twist — witches, ghosts, pumpkins, and all the spooky stuff we love. You’ll get some seriously silly and spooky stories. Perfect for any Halloween gathering!

If you’re having a big bash with friends, looking for a simple classroom activity or a quiet night of movies and treats with the fam, these Mad Libs are a must.
How to Play Mad Libs:
Choose a Story: Start with one of the Halloween Mad Libs sheets that has a pre-written story with several blank spaces. The blanks will require specific types of words, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.
Fill in the Blanks
One player, called the “reader,” asks the other players for words to fill in the blanks. The reader doesn't reveal the context of the story, so players just supply random words based on the type requested (e.g., a "noun" or "adjective").Types of Words Needed:
Noun: A person, place, or thing (e.g., “pumpkin,” “witch,” or “broomstick”).
Verb: An action word (e.g., “run,” “jump,” or “fly”).
Adjective: A word that describes something (e.g., “spooky,” “slimy,” or “funny”).
Read the Story
Once all the blanks are filled in, the reader reads the complete Mad Libs story aloud. Since the words were chosen randomly, the results are often absolutely ridiculous.
Example:
If the story asks for an adjective and a noun, you might end up with something like this:
"The slimy ghost danced on a pumpkin at the haunted house!"
