Origami Bat.

It’s October and that means it’s time for some Halloween Origami. We’re big fans of all things paper on the blog so it seemed only right to start off the month with a spooky paper project.

If you’ve never made origami before don’t be intimidated at the thought of making these Halloween Bats. They’re really simple and I think even an absolute beginner will be able to make them without breaking a sweat.

DIY Paper Bats.

These bats would look great hanging from the ceiling or tape to the wall. Use black origami paper for a classic look or try some pretty pastel papers for a colourful twist. Pin them to a wreath or pop on some googly eyes like these origami ghosts for a cute party decoration.

Since this craft is so simple it’s totally kid-friendly. I love the idea of hanging as many as you can make in front of a window or in a doorway. If you have any older kids or teenagers you want to keep entertained make sure to enlist their help and get everyone involved folding them together.

Follow the easy instructions below to create your own Origami bats.

Supplies:

To make the bats you’ll need one square sheet of paper. I used 6x6 inch paper but it doesn’t really matter what size you use unless you want to make giant bats that hang from the ceiling!

I got this pretty purple paper at The Works. It’s called Mystery Marbles and was only £1 for 30 sheets. Sadly a lot of what I see in the store isn’t always available online so if you’re in the U.K. I recommend popping in and seeing what they’ve got in stock.

I always recommend using origami paper although any thin paper will do. If you don’t have any origami paper on hand here are a few alternatives that you probably already have at home.

I even have some printable origami paper you can download and use for FREE. Simply download, print and cut into 7x7-inch squares.
