I’m always on the lookout for new origami projects to try and as summer is now officially here I thought I’d combine the two and try my hand at a paper ice cream cone or two. As I make a lot of crafts for the blog it always makes a nice change to make something just for fun.

Did you see my Free Summer Calendar Printable I shared the other day? I designed it to be used to track all those summer activities at a glance but I think it would also make a fantastic craft project planner?
For sunny afternoons in the garden, you could try origami waterbombs or paper cups to use for snacks or drinks (but only if you’re quick 😉). And for the rainy days when you’re stuck indoors make one of the slightly more complicated oyster shells or maybe an origami octopus or shark with the kids.

Supplies:
I do recommend using origami paper for any paper folding project but any kind of thin paper will work. Here are a few alternatives that you probably already have on hand.
Magazines
Old Books
And Maps.
I even have some printable origami paper you can download and use for FREE. Simply download, print and cut into 7x7-inch squares.
So what do you think? Is there something on the list that you’d like to try making this summer? Personally, I’d love to try those cute ice cream cones but I have a strong feeling my little boy would pick the shark or mermaid. Anything water-themed is always a hit!
