Ever wondered how to make a simple DIY Gift Box out of scrapbook paper but didn’t want to worry about measuring and scoring? Then don’t panic, you’re in the right place.
We all know I love a cute little gift box, whether it’s made using origami, a scoreboard and a pair of scissors or printed and folded. Today I have a free printable box template to share so you can make your own mini gift box quickly and easily.
Have you started wrapping your gifts yet? I have to admit, I’m usually a last-minute kind of person. I always have the best intentions but somehow time runs away with me. If you’re a last-minute gift wrapper like me then these sweet boxes could be a big time saver.
It’s really easy to make a DIY Gift Box out of scrapbook paper as the lightweight cardstock runs through a standard printer nice and comfortably. Using scrapbook paper also means it’s easy to customise your boxes for all your friends and family. A cute candy cane pattern for your brother, reindeer for the kids, snowflakes for your mum.
Simply cut your paper to size, print, cut and assemble. Because who wants a generic gift box for the holidays when you could have a sweet handmade one instead?
Materials:
I used the Jolly Holidays range from First Edition. You can find the 12 x 12 inch paper pad in-store at The Works or online and in-store at The Range. I’ve only found the 6 x 6 size online at Amazon so if you love the design it’s definitely worth popping into your local branch.
Free Printable Template (makes a 6 x 6 x 6 cm square box)
Scissors
Ruler and an Embossing Tool (although an old ballpoint pen or butter knife works well too)
Ribbon or Baker’s Twine to finish

How To Make A DIY Gift Box - with free printable template.
Download the free template.
Cut your chosen scrapbook paper to size.
Print out the template onto the back (blank side) of your paper.
Cut out the box template.
Score along all the folds and tabs.
Run some paper glue or double-sided tape along the tabs.
Leave the top tabs free of tape so you can open and close the lid.
Assemble your box.
Fill with your gift and tie with ribbon to finish.
Top Tip.
If you’re using a patterned paper like the reindeer one I used, you’re going to want to make sure the pattern is the right way up on your finished box.
Make sure to cut your paper so the pattern runs at a 90 degree angle when it’s in the printer. An easy way to do this is to lie a piece of A4 paper width ways across your scrapbook paper, not top to bottom and use it as a guide.
